THE Ohio State University Hitch Cover # AMG100406 you are using on your 2011 Ford F-150 should have come with a foam gasket that would fit around the base of the cover on the back that would help prevent rattling while driving.

Currently we only carry the triangle wrenches that come with the Chevrolet Corvette C5 Logo Trailer Hitch Cover # CHC5HCM with the hitch cover. As the Triangle screw drivers are not very popular they are hard to find at local hardware stores. Sounds like you got some "bulb out" error messages when you installed the LED hitch cover previously. The reason for this is the slight amperage draw of the cover tells the computer of your truck that there is a problem with the taillights.

Sorry to hear about this! I am guessing you are referring to the Curt Hitch - 2" # CU29FR. If this is the hitch you have installed, the most common issue with not being able to install the center hitch cover over the hitch results from not lining up the rest of the bumper correctly. If you are getting an error code on your 2018 Ford F-150 when using the Ford LED Lighted Trailer Hitch Cover # CR-007F you will either need to add an aftermarket 4-Way like part # HM48030 to bypass the OEM trailer connector or add load resistors part #DI34ZR to the stop/turn (green and yellow) wires on the cover. The problem is in the vehicle wiring. Something is shorting out onto the power wire for the Brake Light Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover # CR-007 and putting power on that circuit at all times.

If the other lighted hitch covers you tried were also LED then that could be the problem. On some vehicles the tow package wiring doesn't sense the draw of LED lights or might tell you that a bulb is out and it is because the LEDs draw such little power.

This is a problem we normally see with German vehicles when they try to tow a trailer with LED lights. The issue is that the lower amperage draw of the LED lights is just enough to confuse the vehicle that it is drawing too much and because of that it wants to tell you that you have a bulb out on your vehicle.

Your 2015 Ford Escape must have a feature that detects when something is connected to the trailer wiring tow package so it disables the reverse light sensors because it thinks a trailer is connected.
The fast blinkers are probably happening because the lighted hitch cover # RP86532 has an LED light which draws very little power. This would make the vehicle think that a bulb is out on the connected trailer (even though it isn't a trailer) and that is why you have the warnings showing up.
