  • Why Does Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover for 2" Hitch Receivers Door Keep Opening
  • It sounds like you have the Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover for 2" Hitch Receivers # 63080 as there are other people who have referenced the door having trouble staying closed. The problem is that this is just a lower quality product so it isn't always perfect. I prefer a plug-style hitch cover, like the etrailer Rubber Hitch Cover # 22282, and then pairing that with a clamp-style anti-rattle device like what we see with the Malone # MPG908. This cover does have a 1-Year...

  • Troubleshooting Lights With Hitch Cover and Curt Harness on 2019 Ford Ranger
  • The issue is almost certainly with the hitch cover that you are using after you installed with the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector # C56431. A number of hitch covers have been known to wreak havoc with Ford trucks and cause faults in the dash when used so I recommend removing the hitch cover and the issue will abate.

  • Rattle Prevention Recommendation for Ohio State Hitch Cover # AMG100406 on 2011 Ford F-150
  • THE Ohio State University Hitch Cover # AMG100406 you are using on your 2011 Ford F-150 should have come with a foam gasket that would fit around the base of the cover on the back that would help prevent rattling while driving. If you have that gasket and need something more to prevent additional rattling, I recommend the Let's Go # 63232 anti-rattle hitch lock.

  • How To Remove Bolt For Hitch Cover That Uses Triangular Drive Wrench Without The Wrenches
  • Currently we only carry the triangle wrenches that come with the Chevrolet Corvette C5 Logo Trailer Hitch Cover # CHC5HCM with the hitch cover. As the Triangle screw drivers are not very popular they are hard to find at local hardware stores. In my experience with these when someone loses the wrench they simply drill the head off the bolt and use a standard nylon lock hex nut and bolt that you can find at your local hardware store

  • Solution for Dash Error Code Message on 2015 Ford F-150 with LED Hitch Cover
  • On vehicles that have a hard time working properly with LED trailer taillights or hitch covers the solution is to install load resistors on the circuits of the hitch cover to increase the load on the circuit which will allow the truck to work properly. For that we have the # DI34ZR. You would need to install one of these on each of the circuits of the cover.

  • Why Would Bulb Out Sensor Code Show on Vehicle with LED Hitch Cover
  • Sounds like you got some "bulb out" error messages when you installed the LED hitch cover previously. The reason for this is the slight amperage draw of the cover tells the computer of your truck that there is a problem with the taillights. The only solution we have would be to use the 7-way connector on your truck and then use the # C35FR plugged into the 7-way and then plug the hitch cover into the 4-way on the other side.

  • Trouble Re-Installing the Center Hitch Cover with the Curt Hitch # CU29FR on a 2021 Buick Enclave
  • Sorry to hear about this! I am guessing you are referring to the Curt Hitch - 2" # CU29FR. If this is the hitch you have installed, the most common issue with not being able to install the center hitch cover over the hitch results from not lining up the rest of the bumper correctly. Any little variation with how the bumper is attached to the rear of your vehicle can affect the fitment of that center piece. The best route is to remove and re-install the bumper to ensure fitment. I went...

  • Lighted Hitch Cover Remains On with Vehicle Lights Off
  • A lighted hitch cover such as # CR-007 uses the same type of 4-pole wiring as a trailer that has basic lighting functions. This type of wiring set-up provides brake, turn and tail light functions. This 4-pole wiring harness, such as # 118526 and # C56251, will pass a very small amount of power even without any vehicle lighting functions activated. If you have a hitch cover that uses highly efficient LEDs instead of bulbs, like # CR-017, it may illuminate just from the small amount of residual...

  • Chevy Bowtie LED Lighted Trailer Hitch Cover Only Lights Up Half the LEDs
  • To determine if the problem is with the Chevy light hitch cover # RP86530 use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the pins on the truck's 4-Way connector while someone operates the turn signals, brakes, and running lights in the truck. If any of the circuits are not showing power then that could be the reason and it is likely a blown tow package, stop light, or CHMSL fuse. Also, if the truck's 4-Way connector is dirty/corroded the cover will not function properly. I have experienced...

  • Troubleshooting Ford LED Hitch Cover Causing Error Code on 2018 Ford F-150
  • If you are getting an error code on your 2018 Ford F-150 when using the Ford LED Lighted Trailer Hitch Cover # CR-007F you will either need to add an aftermarket 4-Way like part # HM48030 to bypass the OEM trailer connector or add load resistors part #DI34ZR to the stop/turn (green and yellow) wires on the cover. For some reason some of the newer Ford pickups have trouble with accessories that have lights and they cause an error message to pop up like what you are experiencing. As of...

  • Troubleshooting a Brake Light Hitch Cover # CR-007 that Stays on All the Time
  • The problem is in the vehicle wiring. Something is shorting out onto the power wire for the Brake Light Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover # CR-007 and putting power on that circuit at all times. I would trace the wiring of your 4-way back looking for corrosion or cut or exposed wire that could be causing the short and fix as necessary. This light should only come on with the brakes or the right turn signal comes on.

  • LED Lighted Hitch Covers Do Not Work when Plugged Into a 2006 Ford F-150
  • If the other lighted hitch covers you tried were also LED then that could be the problem. On some vehicles the tow package wiring doesn't sense the draw of LED lights or might tell you that a bulb is out and it is because the LEDs draw such little power. Since the trailer lights work when you plug it in this must be the issue. The fix for this is to install load resistors, # DI34ZR for a pair, in line with the wiring on the hitch cover light. One resistor would be needed per affected circuit.

  • Ford LED Lighted Hitch Cover Causes Turn Signal to Stop Working on a 2017 Ford Escape
  • It sounds like you have a ground or short issue on your 2017 Ford Escape. You can verify this by plugging the Ford LED Lighted Trailer Hitch Cover # CR-007F into another vehicle that the wiring is good on to see if it has the same problem. If your turn signal will not work when you plug in the Ford LED Cover then you will want to check your ground connections and make sure that they are secure and connected to a clean, bare metal surface. If the grounds are good to go then you will want...

  • Curt Trailer Hitch Not Fitting Right on a 2016 Honda HR-V
  • For Curt trailer hitch # C11416 for the 2016 Honda HR-V if you have an all wheel drive model then there is no cover, lines, or fascia have to be removed, trimmed, or otherwise manipulated to install the trailer hitch. But on front wheel drive models there is a panel and in order to access the mounting points for the hitch that panel will need to be removed.

  • Is Ford Lighted Hitch Cover # CR-007F Compatible with 2015 Ford Escape Tow Package
  • When the Ford Brake Light Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover, # CR-007F, is plugged into the factory tow package wiring of your 2015 Ford Escape it makes the vehicle's computer think that a trailer is connected. Since this connector only has two pins there is no power draw on the left turn signal/taillight. Some vehicles with the factory tow package will then throw an error code thinking something is wrong. This is why you are experiencing the fault signal and fast flashing when you use the left...

  • Solution for Newer Ford with Bulb Out Error Message When Using LED Hitch Cover
  • This is a problem we normally see with German vehicles when they try to tow a trailer with LED lights. The issue is that the lower amperage draw of the LED lights is just enough to confuse the vehicle that it is drawing too much and because of that it wants to tell you that you have a bulb out on your vehicle. Normally the fix for this is to use the # C35FR which has diodes in it that increase the amperage draw to what an incandescent bulb would draw on a trailer which eliminates the error...

  • LED Hitch Cover Troubleshooting on 2020 GMC Sierra
  • There are always new things added to trucks with sensors and such for safety and this is one of the most recent. The workaround for an LED hitch cover like # CR-007G would be to add a load resistor. Some adapters like # C35FR have load resistors integrated to create the draw needed and are the easy solution for this issue. The other option is to put load resistors on the functions behind the connector using resistors like # DI34ZR. This type of connection requires adapting the factory...

  • Troubleshooting Error Codes On 2017 Ford Expedition With Pilot Ford LED Light Cover Installed
  • Since using the Ford Brake Light Trailer Hitch Cover # CR-007F on your 2017 Ford Expedition is causing an error code, you will need to either add an additional 4-way connector like the # HM48030 to bypass the OEM wiring, or you can add load resistors # DI34ZR to the yellow and green turn signal wires of the cover. The towing system on the newer Ford's can be finicky about adding accessories as it thinks there is a trailer connected but is not seeing the power draw it is programed to expect...

  • Does the LED Brake and Tail Light Trailer Hitch Cover, FHG72VR, Blink with Turn Signals
  • Your Flint Hill Goods Square LED Brake Light Hitch Cover for 2" Hitches # FHG72VR, is operating correctly. It should not work with turn signals at all, only for a running light and brake light. Normally on a vehicle or trailer that has combined brake and turn signals, the turn signal overrides the brake light on the side that is blinking. For this unit, it is the other way around. Its better that way for a vehicle because a flashing red light at the center of a vehicle does not really...

  • Ford LED Hitch Cover Disables Backup Sensors and Causes Fast Blinkers on 2015 Ford Escape
  • Your 2015 Ford Escape must have a feature that detects when something is connected to the trailer wiring tow package so it disables the reverse light sensors because it thinks a trailer is connected. The fast blinkers are probably happening because the lighted hitch cover # RP86532 has an LED light which draws very little power. This would make the vehicle think that a bulb is out on the connected trailer (even though it isn't a trailer) and that is why you have the warnings showing up. You...
